About

Our children are known and understood by us, valued, and celebrated. Small group sizes mean we can tune into each child’s needs and routines

Our Story

Bovan Creek is a small, home-from-home nursery in the heart of Canterbury, created to give children a warm start, calm routines, and rich learning through play. From our earliest days, we’ve focused on partnership with families, strong key-person relationships, and daily adventures indoors and out, helping little ones grow in confidence, curiosity, and kindness.

We’re proud to be rated Ofsted “Good” (July 2024) and to serve our community with safe, joyful care every day.

Our graduates

Children leave us confident, kind, curious and ready to thrive in Reception. We build school-readiness every day through routines, play, and growing independence.

What school-readiness looks like

  • Independence: coats, zips, toileting, handwashing, tidying, lunch routines.

  • Communication: listening, taking turns, speaking in full sentences, asking for help.

  • Early literacy & maths: Phase-1 phonics (rhyme, sound awareness), name recognition/mark-making, counting, comparing, shapes and patterns.

  • Personal & social: sharing, following instructions, resilience, friendships.

  • Motor skills: pencil grip, scissors, core strength, outdoor movement.

Our community

We’re a neighbourhood nursery. Children learn best when they feel they belong, so we open our doors to families, local schools and community friends all year round. Our aim is to help little ones see themselves as part of something bigger, valued, connected and capable of making a difference.

You’ll often find us out and about: exploring parks, popping into the library, visiting museums and noticing the everyday life of our streets and markets. We invite community helpers, firefighters, nurses, artists and gardeners, to share their skills, spark curiosity and start conversations about keeping safe and helping others. We’d love you to be part of it, come and see how your child can grow with us, and with our community.

Health & Safety

Your child’s safety is our highest priority. All team members are DBS-checked, trained in safeguarding and paediatric first aid, and follow strict ratios with vigilant supervision indoors, outdoors and during outings. Our building uses secure entry with a visitor sign-in process, and children’s sleep is checked and recorded at regular intervals.

We complete daily risk assessments, maintain rigorous cleaning and food-hygiene routines, and manage allergies carefully with individual care plans. Medicines are only administered with written consent and clear records. We follow illness and infection-control guidance, practise regular fire/evacuation drills, and report any accidents or incidents to parents the same day. Full policies are available on request.
